Spring in in the Air at Micklewood

Berwick

If the cold snap has you wishing for Spring and its crisp bright mornings so ideal for early morning country walks, then Dere Street Homes’ prestigious Micklewood development, in the grounds of the former Longhirst Hall Estate, might just tick all the boxes.

Only four, detached five bedroom luxury homes remain for sale at the development, located just to the north of Morpeth, but what homes they are! Superbly designed by architect, Russell Edwards, the properties are surrounded by mature woodland overlooking open fields and have been finished with an exceptionally high specification – viewing is highly recommended!

Construction on the new homes, designed for modern families, began last Summer with prices ranging from £525,000 to £575,000 for the two different designs of five bedroom detached homes. A striking feature of both designs is the higher than normal ceiling heights which creates  a light filled and airy feel to both designs.

While both designs feature large open plan kitchen/family rooms and a separate living room, the larger Alnwick design has an additional separate dining room and study with an adjacent double garage. The Berwick design has an integral single garage, accessed from the utility room with both designs enjoying a central stairwell accessing the five first floor bedrooms which include en-suite facilities to the spacious master bedroom and bedroom two.

The elegant  Longhirst Estate dates back to 1828 when the Lawson family commissioned John Dobson to build their country residence – the same architect who designed Newcastle’s famous Grey Street and some of the region’s most elegant buildings. The original hall has been described as John Dobson’s finest classical design and after passing through the hands of some of the area’s most affluent families, the Grade II listed Hall was eventually converted into a hotel which was hugely popular as a wedding venue.

Located off the B1337 road, just a few minutes away from Morpeth and the main roundabout linking the new Bypass to the A1(M) and beyond, Longhirst is close enough to links to the new road to make commuting from here into Newcastle and beyond very easy, whilst being far enough away to retain its truly rural setting. On the edge of the Northumberland National Park and close to the Coastal route cycleway, the location is ideally suited for those who enjoy the open countryside of Northumberland.
