Staff at Dere Street Homes are looking forward to continuing the successful sales of homes at their Marley Fields development in Wheatley Hill which has seen 28 of the 106 homes to be eventually built already sold with the showhome only opening last May.
Sean McQuaid, Managing Director of Durham-based Dere Street Homes, commented, “There’s a huge demand for new homes in County Durham and the response so far has been phenomenal, especially since we opened the showhome and we hope to complete 40 homes this year.”
“The fact that almost 80% of our purchasers come from within a 5 mile radius, shows the level of local demand here which is reflected in the equally high demand for homes to rent in Wheatley Hill. The provision of housing is vital for the regeneration of the whole area and we’re very proud to be playing our part.”
“The three and four bedroom detached homes are attracting the most interest with the Ellerby and Helmsley designs being particularly popular but all the homes are very well designed and equally stylish and the availability of Help To Buy support is also proving a great incentive for our buyers.”
The Ellerby showhome is a fabulous four bedroom detached home with an integral single garage offering a spacious and well designed interior. The entrance hall leads either into a large open plan kitchen/dining area with access to a light and airy rear-facing garden room or into the separate living room to the front of the house. A downstairs cloakroom is also located off the hall.
All four bedrooms and the family bathroom are located off a central first floor landing with the spacious master bedroom including fitted wardrobes and en-suite facilities.
Located to the east of Durham City, the development will eventually contain 106 new homes of eight different designs on a brownfield site just off the A181 linking the A1(M) to the A19 at Castle Eden. With two, three and four bedroom designs of homes, the aim is for a mixed development with prices to suit a variety of buyers from those taking their first steps on the housing ladder to growing families who wish to stay in the area but are looking for a bigger home.
The Government’s Help To Buy scheme offers buyers of new homes an equity loan of up to 20% of the cost of a new built home. The loan is interest free for the first five years with interest only charged in the sixth year and thereafter and, in essence, means a buyer of a new built home only needs to find 5% of the cost of the home as a deposit, with the 20% Help to Buy loan making up the remainder of the deposit and a 75% mortgage making up the remainder of the total cost of the home.
Prices for those homes released for sale at Marley Fields start from £155,000. Full details are available from Kelly Dodd, Development Sales Manager, Thursday to Monday 10.00am to 5.00pm on 07944 568720 or www.derestreethomes.co.uk
